Welcome to the art of Olaf Wipperfurth. His photos, which are composed of dark and gritty experiences, captures multiple stories and emotions. Every photo seems to hold so many emotional reactions for everyone who views his work. It is hard not to stare...


Olaf was born in Germany. He obtained a doctorate in philosophy in 1999. His thesis, "The aesthetic rest: remarks on the aesthetic of the moment," a study of the 'moment' in contemporary art and philosophy is available on his website.



Olaf now lives and works in Paris

Mikal Hameed is the word of the day

Meet Mikal Hameed. He is dope. He is an artist. He is authentic.
His style contains a unique blend of design and hip hop. The style represents the true artistic form of hip hop with the turntable, street art and sound. There is something so real and authentic about his work it is hard to pinpoint exactly what that is. What I do know is that when I first saw his work I had the feelings of growing up writing graffiti, mixing records with friends, block parties, running around the city, break dancing and of course guzzling hip hop music. Maybe its his ability to combine the many elements of hip hop culture, including hip hop's influential roots in jazz, and to make that emotional connection...like it was back in the old days.

The result is a beautiful images that are not content with living in a 2 dimensional world. This work becomes real as the people bust out of their number based homes and mingle with the person viewing them. Be sure to check out Alex's work here.

How would 100 artists survive on the streets?

Well come join me to a really cool Brooklynite Gallery event called "Go Get Your Shinebox." The idea comes from asking 100 international artists 'if you had to work on the streets to make a living...what object would you create to help you survive?' Out of this question comes a plethora of beautiful survival kits with wide ranging approaches and creativity. It looks like a dope event. I will be there the opening night. Give me a shout if you plan on going.



If you can't make the opening night the gallery will be open from November 21st to December 19th.

A recent photography project consisting of places where cultural legends were killed has wrapped up. Dean Rogers took all the pictures and had them in an exhibit in the UK.
I really like the style of the photos because they capture a dark and shadowy image and feeling.
