definition of OG = GGRP

By far one of the coolest promos I have seen in a while. GGRP, which is an innovative sound engineering company has gone old school to promote their sound quality skills. They have a great website too...check it out. This work is classy and sexy...well done!

First seen here.

Mikal Hameed is the word of the day

Meet Mikal Hameed. He is dope. He is an artist. He is authentic.
His style contains a unique blend of design and hip hop. The style represents the true artistic form of hip hop with the turntable, street art and sound. There is something so real and authentic about his work it is hard to pinpoint exactly what that is. What I do know is that when I first saw his work I had the feelings of growing up writing graffiti, mixing records with friends, block parties, running around the city, break dancing and of course guzzling hip hop music. Maybe its his ability to combine the many elements of hip hop culture, including hip hop's influential roots in jazz, and to make that emotional connection...like it was back in the old days.

Here are some of his paintings I ripped from his Facebook page:
more sexiness...

oh yea.
Where can you peep his latest work?

Check his latest work, Urban Audio Manifesto #3, out at 58 Gallery in Jersey City, NJ. Open Friday and Saturdays...appointments needed for other days. He will be there until March 8th.

Here is his website: www.mikalhameed.com

a creative celebration = creative community

I was looking at Lynne Johnson's blog where I saw this behind the scenes video of Scion Flux Super 8. It is a great showcase of creative talent from various disciplines, styles and skills.

Scion Presents: 'FLUX SUPER 8' from Scion ART on Vimeo.

What is Flux you ask? Great question! Well it is an online community of consisting of film, art, music, design and culture. Flux creates experiential events, curates and commissions film, video and art programming and hosts physical and virtual events. You can check them out here.

touch it all over

Multi-touch tables and technology have been a hot item since Jeff Han's demo at the TED Conference, which is now being used (forcefully and unnecessarily at times) on CNN. Promethean created their interactive whiteboards. The very impressive mt multi-touch and multi-user table built for museums is pretty top notch as well.

The latest multi-touch table that has me geeking out is the Reactable table I saw on Engadget this morning. This table's cool factor is primo as it allows users to experiment with sound in real time via tangible pucks. Users can turn and move them to combine, manipulate, and compose various tones, synthesizers, effects and sample loops. I think the coolest part is that you can collaborate with other people and bring real time sessions to a new level.

Think about controlling one element and having a friend on the opposite side composing another element and then switching sides and working on each other's pieces. Or imagine your favorite DJs coming together to perform a live show on the table. Reactable could produce some creative works.

true hip hop

Since my last posting was about hip hop i thought i would post an item that is true to the art form. straight from the def jux site ($1.98) is the Working It video from del's new album! Yes, you get to check it for free here at artifact. I give a crap load of money to def jux so i don't feel too bad and i am sure el-p is doing just fine over there...

Let me know your thoughts on this...it is much much more different than his other work. i guess you could call it a new sound, but i like hearing him rip it like the deltron 3030 or 3rd eye vision days...
